Meet the Maxon Family
Broken Wheel Campground is under new ownership as of August 2026. Garth and Stacy Maxon are excited to continue the campground’s tradition of providing memorable outdoor experiences for families, friends, and travelers. Camping has been a part of the Maxon family’s story for nearly two decades. Shortly after getting married in 2008, Garth and Stacy purchased their first RV and spent weekends exploring campgrounds throughout New York’s Capital Region. As their family grew, so did their love for travel, leading to weeklong camping adventures across the East Coast and creating countless memories with their three children
Our Travels
After the pandemic, the Maxon's made the decision to homeschool their children, giving them the flexibility to take longer trips and experience more of the country together. In 2024, they took that dream a step further, embarking on a two-year full-time RV journey. Traveling through 29 states, they visited campgrounds, national parks, small towns, and outdoor destinations across America. These experiences gave them a unique perspective on what makes a campground truly special and reinforced their passion for helping families connect with nature, create lasting memories, and enjoy the camping lifestyle.
Our History
Before purchasing Broken Wheel Campground, Garth and Stacy owned and operated an RV rental and repair business, helping thousands of families experience the joys of camping and the great outdoors. Their passion for RV travel, customer service, and creating unforgettable guest experiences led them to pursue their dream of owning a campground.
The Future
Today, the Maxons’ goal is simple: preserve the family-friendly atmosphere that campers have enjoyed for decades while continually improving the campground and creating new opportunities for guests to relax, reconnect, and make memories. Whether you’re visiting for a weekend getaway, a family vacation, or a seasonal stay, Garth, Stacy, their family, and their Beagle, Ty, look forward to welcoming you to Broken Wheel Campground and sharing their love of camping with your family.
